Maintenance and Warranty
Understanding Warranties
Typical massage chair warranty structure:
- Frame/Structure: 5-10 years (sometimes lifetime)
- Parts: 3-5 years typical
- Labor: 1-3 years common
- In-home service: 1-2 years, then you pay travel fees
What to watch for: Some warranties require you to ship chair for repairs (expensive). Others include in-home service. "Limited warranty" may have exclusions. Read the fine print.
Maintenance Requirements
Massage chairs require minimal maintenance:
- Weekly: Wipe down with damp cloth
- Monthly: Vacuum around moving parts
- Quarterly: Check for loose bolts or screws
- Annually: Condition leather/synthetic leather
What NOT to do: Don't use harsh chemicals, excessive water, or allow pets to scratch the material.
Extended Warranties: Worth It?
Extended warranties typically cost $200-800 and extend coverage by 1-3 years. Consider purchasing if:
- You plan to use the chair heavily (multiple times daily)
- Multiple family members will use it
- You're buying a complex chair with many electronic features
- The standard warranty is relatively short (under 3 years parts)
Skip extended warranties if the standard warranty is already comprehensive (5+ years parts and labor) or if you're buying a simple, mechanically straightforward chair.
